Science and Technology Park Niš will host the final event of the South East European Innovators Challenge 2026 on 17 September 2026. The regional open innovation initiative connects real business challenges with innovative solutions in the fields of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
The Challenge brings together startups, innovation and research teams, SMEs, and technology companies from across Southeast Europe, as well as industry partners, investors, mentors, experts, science and technology parks, and organizations supporting innovation development.
The event will also showcase startups from the Alliance of Science and Technology Parks and Innovation Ecosystems of Southeast Europe, representing Türkiye, Bulgaria, Romania, Montenegro, Greece, and Serbia. Their participation will create additional opportunities for regional networking, knowledge and experience exchange, as well as the development of new cross-border partnerships and joint projects.
This year’s focus covers two key areas — Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity. In the field of artificial intelligence, the Challenge is looking for solutions in smart manufacturing, energy and green technologies, smart cities and the public sector, Trusted AI and AI Governance, as well as AI applications in healthcare. The cybersecurity track includes AI for cyber defense, Zero Trust and digital identity, cyber resilience, OT and industrial cybersecurity, as well as Secure AI.
The call is intended for teams developing solutions at TRL 2–5 and CRL 2–5, ranging from early-stage concepts and prototypes to validated technologies and solutions in the early stages of market readiness.
Selected teams will have the opportunity to connect directly with companies and institutions looking for practical AI and cybersecurity solutions, explore opportunities for pilot projects and business partnerships, and participate in B2B matchmaking with companies, investors, and other innovation ecosystem stakeholders.
Participants will also have access to mentoring support in technology, business development, investment readiness, and the legal aspects of innovation, as well as digital maturity assessment and advisory support through the EDIH S4AI_HUB network.
A dedicated part of the program will support the further development of the most successful teams. Five winning teams will receive membership and tailored support through HUB201 programs, while five winning teams will also be supported to participate in Web Summit Lisbon, gaining international exposure, networking opportunities, and access to global innovation ecosystems.
The open call for solutions is planned for July 2026, with the selection of finalists scheduled for 15 August. Mentoring and preparation activities will take place throughout September ahead of the final presentation.
The final pitching event will take place on 17 September 2026 at Science and Technology Park Niš, Serbia, as part of the 10th Forum of Advanced Technologies.
