Feasibility Study for the Establishment of the Institute for Energy Transition in Niš Presented

A roundtable was held at the Science and Technology Park Niš to present the Feasibility Study for the establishment of the Institute for Energy Transition — an institution that could, in the future, connect the scientific research sector, industry and the public sector in the fields of energy, renewable energy sources, energy efficiency and sustainable development.
The study was developed within the BeReady project, with the aim of examining the possibilities for establishing an institute that will support the development of applied science, innovation and practical solutions in the process of energy transition. The future institute is planned to be located in the new building of the Science and Technology Park Niš, which will further strengthen the role of STP Niš as a place where knowledge, technology and entrepreneurship are connected.

The future Institute for Energy Transition will aim to develop and apply new technologies, implement pilot projects and create solutions that will contribute to more efficient energy use, the reduction of the negative impacts of climate change and the creation of a more sustainable urban environment.
During the discussion, the key recommendations of the study were presented, along with the Local Action Plan for the City of Niš and opportunities for connecting with existing initiatives, including TechNis. Participants also discussed the possible structure of the future institute, operational models and the first activities that could demonstrate the concrete effects of cooperation between science, industry and the local community.
The importance of this initiative lies in creating the conditions for domestic experts and young talents to take part in the development of applied research, while companies and city institutions will receive support in making decisions based on knowledge and innovation.

The final project event brought together representatives of the scientific community, industry, the public sector and organizations working on the development of green technologies and sustainable solutions, while the media recognized the importance of this initiative for the further development of Niš as a center of innovation and energy transition.
