What You Learn When You See Earth from Orbit

Science and Technology Park Niš will host Daniel Tani on October 16, 2026, an astronaut and former member of NASA’s astronaut corps, who will deliver a lecture entitled “NASA: Exploring the Unknown – The Future of Space Exploration.”

Daniel Tani has an extensive career in space technology and exploration. As a NASA astronaut, he participated in two space missions and spent 120 days aboard the International Space Station during Expedition 16. Over the course of his missions, he completed five spacewalks, totaling nearly 35 hours, and took part in numerous operations related to the functioning and development of the International Space Station.

Before and after his time at NASA, he worked on the development of space systems, mission operations and launch programs, combining his engineering expertise with hands-on experience in one of the world’s most demanding technological environments.

During his lecture at STP Niš, Tani will speak about his experience of living and working in space, the challenges of space missions, the role of technology and engineering in exploring the unknown, as well as the future of space exploration and what lies ahead in the years to come.

The audience will have the opportunity to hear first-hand what it takes to prepare for a space mission, what everyday life aboard the International Space Station looks like, and how decisions are made in an environment where there is no room for error. They will also learn more about the directions in which space technology and exploration are developing today.

The lecture is intended for students, young engineers and researchers, the technology and startup community, as well as anyone interested in space, science, technology and innovation.

The number of seats is limited, so we invite you to register via the LINK.
