On May 20, 2026, a joint event organized by the Naučno-tehnološki park Niš and the City of Niš was held at the Europe House Niš, bringing together representatives of local institutions, the innovation ecosystem, and the media.
The event focused on the results of a project dedicated to understanding and mitigating the effects of urban heat islands (UHI), one of the increasingly significant challenges of modern urban development. Activities implemented during the previous period were presented, along with examples of collaboration with local and regional partners that contributed to the development of practical and applicable solutions.
A special part of the program was dedicated to the analysis of achievements to date, as well as discussions on the challenges encountered during the project’s implementation. The next steps were also highlighted, including the further development of innovative approaches and pilot solutions aimed at increasing the city’s climate resilience.
The event additionally emphasized the importance of connecting science, industry, and the public sector, as well as the role of the innovation ecosystem in creating sustainable solutions for improving citizens’ quality of life. Through open discussion and the exchange of experiences, participants created space for new initiatives that will contribute to sustainable urban development and the long-term resilience of Niš to climate change.
