The President of the National Assembly Visited the Works on the new building of STP Niš
Today, the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, visited the construction works on the new building of the Science and Technology Park Niš, which have entered the final phase, and the completion of the works is expected at the end of January 2026.
During the tour, the President of the National Assembly emphasized that the Republic of Serbia has a special focus on the development of scientific and research institutes, emphasizing that one of the key centers of this development will be the Science and Technology Park Niš, after the completion of the second phase of construction. As she stated, strengthening cooperation between cities such as Niš, Kragujevac, where an innovation district is being largely established, and Kruševac, which will have its own Regional Industrial Technology Park next year, is of exceptional importance for balanced regional development and better connection of scientific, research, and innovation capacities across the country.
The expansion of the Science and Technology Park Niš capacities will create conditions for the work of more than 70 companies, which will employ over 1,500 highly educated experts. The new complex will include three institutes and six modern laboratories, which will further strengthen the research and development infrastructure of southern Serbia. In the coming period, the Science and Technology Park Niš will, in close cooperation with academia and researchers, work on the identification of key laboratories, the competencies of the faculty, researchers, and mentors, as well as on defining specific niches with the greatest development potential. On this basis, the formation of virtual centers of excellence is planned, which will connect knowledge, science, and industry.
This strengthening of the capacity and functional role of the Science and Technology Park Niš represents one of the key steps towards the realization of the TehNis concept – a comprehensive innovation district that positions Niš as a regional center for science, technology, and innovation. TehNis will encompass more than 70,000m² of modern space intended for research, development and high-tech entrepreneurship, with a special focus on three areas of national importance: cyber-security, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy sources.
By investing in modern research infrastructure, connecting academia and the economy, as well as creating conditions for the stay and return of top experts, Niš is systematically positioning itself as one of the carriers of technological and economic development in Serbia. By implementing the second phase of construction and further developing the TehNis concept, lasting and sustainable foundations are being created for regional development, international competitiveness, and long-term growth based on knowledge and innovation.
